What Tony Huge and Coach Trevor were saying about testosterone before TRT had ad budgets
TRT is a television category now. The two men who were filming the dose debate in 2017 are still filming it, and their numbers have not moved.
The therapeutic ceiling, per Coach Trevor, is "200 milligrams every 10 days, that's the highest they'll ever go" to keep a man in the normal range (2024, 2:07). It is the dose he runs himself, with a few units of growth hormone, and it has held him in the 240s for years (1:02). In 2026 that sentence would fit on a telehealth landing page. In 2017 it was underground.
The 2017 position
On Advices Radio, Trevor's first answer on testosterone was about frequency rather than amount: "the best way to tell someone" is "just injecting more frequently but the same dose," which "can have a huge benefit" (25:26). Smaller, more frequent injections that flatten the peaks are now standard advice in TRT clinics. Tony's own later write-up on daily testosterone microdosing with Trevor is on his site (read).
The same year, Trevor's first-cycle video put the case for restraint on tape: 250 mg with no ancillaries as a first run, 10 to 12 weeks, an aromatase inhibitor only at 500 mg and only at 12.5 mg every other day, and PCT every time because skipping it "does change your mood" in ways other people notice first (2017).
The 2024 position
Seven years later the pair filmed the question that had become mainstream: the men in their 40s and 50s on 400 mg a week (watch). Trevor's arithmetic: halving the therapeutic interval and doubling the dose puts a man at "3 to 4 times the normal amount" of a 20-year-old (2:07). His judgement: past the base, extra dose changes shape, water and hardness more than it adds tissue, and "the farther you get away from your natural state, the more steroids it takes" (2:07 to 6:23).
And the line he calls the secret lesson: "If you find out what someone is on today, don't assume that that's how they built or got to where they are" (3:11). The 400 mg men built the muscle on more and now use 400 to keep it.
Testosterone as "a dirty steroid"
In a 2024 clip Trevor calls testosterone "always the foundation" of any cycle and, in the same breath, "a dirty steroid" with "more side effects than benefits after a certain amount" (watch). His argument is pharmacokinetic: the body makes testosterone in short pulses, an injection holds a high level for weeks, and the sustained level is what drives the estrogen, DHT, prostate and prolactin problems that then need a second drug to manage. The conclusion he draws is the one the TRT industry arrived at later, on its own: less, more often, with labs.
Why this is on a Coach Trevor site
Because the coach in these videos is the one giving the numbers, and Tony Huge is the one who put them on YouTube when almost nobody else would. The positions in this article are theirs; the dates are on the videos. What the record shows is 2 men arguing for low, measured, long-term testosterone use in public, in 2017, on a platform that later removed the channel for it, and a market that caught up.
For adults 18 and over. The doses here are what 2 men said on camera about themselves and their clients. Not medical advice.
